“The purpose of our lives is to reveal God to others. And only where God is seen does life truly begin. Only when we meet the living God in Christ do we know what life is. We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.”
–Benedict XVI
How do we reveal God to others?
We do that when we are the best-version-of ourself. When we strive over the gap between who we are and who God calls us to be.
How do we do that?
We cultivate good habits: we pray, we go to Mass and receive the Eucharist worthily, we go to Reconciliation, we cultivate good friendships and virtues.
Our faith in Jesus Christ, who was born, died and rose from the dead out of love for us, is the greatest gift ever. Appreciating that gift and allowing Him to transform our hearts requires commitment on our part. We have to “practice” our faith just as we prepare for school, sports or music.
At St. Joe's, our hope and prayer for your high school years is that you develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that you cultivate the good habits that will help you deepen that relationship throughout your life.
